Building on the foundation of your associate degree, the bachelor鈥檚 degree in Game Development and Simulation Programming introduces you to advanced development skills necessary to develop and implement games on various platforms, including phones, tablets, Nintendo, and Xbox.
The comprehensive curriculum also includes courses to develop coding skills for successful VR/AR games and to develop and maintain backend servers for game player data. For your Senior Capstone project, you will team with others to design and develop a full, advanced level game, ready for publishing. The bachelor鈥檚 degree in Game Development and Simulation Programming will prepare you for a rewarding, successful career in the video game industry or related fields.
Through studying and applying key principles of visual arts, audio-video design as well as specific game algorithms and techniques, students will learn to design and implement games of increasing size and complexity.聽 Classwork is centered on developing games in small teams, an approach that allows students to acquire both the technical and interpersonal skills necessary for the game and simulation industry.
A key feature of the program is the senior capstone project where students will bring together knowledge gained throughout the program.聽 Under the supervision of a faculty member, students in teams of two to four will design and develop a game over a period of six months.聽 The project work will be evaluated by a team of three faculty members.
Graduates from this program will be eligible for positions such as game designer, level designer, game developer, quality assurance engineer, software engineer, and game programmer.
